2500

I escaped work last night and went to Lagoon with my family. We had a great time.

Today I got a lot done at work. Including watching England's second game in the world cup on
ESPN 360. This is the quickest and easiest way to watch the action on the internet.

Tomorrow is my 13th anniversary. My wife wants to escape to Park City for the night.

I went surfing today...

There were several things I wanted to mention today. I like to add images to my comments but I could not find some that are appropriate for the topics. Please forgive me for this breach.

First of all, the official count of american soldiers killed in Iraq reached
2500.

I feel deep emotion for these soldiers and their families. War is one of the worst plagues of the earth. I did a little research of this count compared to the Vietnam war. Not to belittle the sacrifice of the families involved but out of my own curiosity. In the Vietnam war 58,191 American soldiers were killed. This war lasted from 1957 to 1975. This averages out to just over 3,232 Americans killed each year of that conflict. The Iraq war began March 19, 2003. In just over three years this averages out to over 833 deaths per year. I mention this only to say that we have become much better at keeping our soldiers alive. I know this is of little consequence to the families of those who have died.

Today president bush did talk about the nation's newest national monument, "which will be given a native Hawaiian name based on suggestions from state residents and covers an archipelago stretching 1,400 miles long and 100 miles wide in the Pacific Ocean. It's home to more than 7,000 species, at least a fourth of them found nowhere else. [

I will have to make an update after I find a map.

Spiderman revealed himself as Peter Parker, a photographer for the Daily Prophet. "I'm proud of who I am, and I'm here right now to prove it," the legendary webslinger tells a press conference called in New York's Times Square before pulling off his mask.

This revalation could be, "arguably the most shocking event in comic book history." [

I also read about the world's most expensive car.

This is a $ 1.7 million dollar Mercedes AMG CLK-GTR Limited Edition Roadster. This baby makes
10 blocks to a tank of gas. Not really but it did make it 10 blocks.

I have also been reading about a bird that can mimic the sounds of a car alarm and chainsaws. Today I ran across a clip from David Attenborough about The Lyrebird. This is a must see.

Stunning Reality

I updated my blogger account. I started in back in 2004. It had posted three items all saying I was going to get familiar with blogger. I have duplicated my past post to there. I'm not sure how much longer I will dual blog.

I added Burning Down Paris today.

I also went surfing...

I came across an image of the 'Earth Science Picture of the Day'. It shows Crepuscular Rays over a mountain peak in the background.

I have also been interested in the transition Tony Snow has been making going from a commentator on FOX to the White house press secretary. I think this photo sums it up.

(AP Photo/Pablo Martinez Monsivais)

"White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, left, and White House Counselor Dan Barlett, ride in a military helicopter wearing helmets and flak jackets for a trip from Baghdad International Airport to U.S. Embassy in the Greenzone Tuesday, June 13, 2006 in Baghdad, Iraq. Snow and Bartlett traveled with President Bush who made a surprise visit to Baghdad."

I also had to include this. I'm not sure why I started but I didn't plan it this way.
