My weekends keep getting shorter. I remember when I was a kid it seemed like an eternity between Halloween and Thanksgiving. Now it seems like a Halloween was last week and Christmas is next week. Even though time is flying I hope this week lasts a little longer. Saturday is the showdown in SLC. Wear your blue!

I think I'll surf until then...

Sometimes I come across something on the web that I think, 'This has to go on my blog'. Today I had this experience with this picture called 'The Aviator'.

Sometimes I read a story on the Internet that I cannot believe is true. So I usually check out Snopes.com and see if the story is in their Urban Legends Reference Pages. This happened to me recently when I saw a story in Yahoo News and from National Geographic about a cat that gave birth to puppies.

The jury is still out on this one but WOW!

Are Mimi the cat's offspring the first known cases of interbreeding between cats and dogs? Her litter of six, born in Passo Fundo, Brazil, contained three doglike offspring. Their three siblings with more feline features died soon after birth.

Mimi's owner, Cassia Aparecida de Souza, claims Mimi was found mating with a neighborhood dog three months ago and that her offspring are a result of that encounter.

Dogs and cats belong to distinct species, meaning that they should be unable to interbreed. A geneticist from a local university plans to analyze blood samples from the animals in an attempt to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Over the last few months I have come across several alphabets made from different objects. The Zombie Alphabet was probably my favorite. Today I'd like to present the 'The Modern Child Unfriendly Alphabet'.

On my way to work today I heard on the radio that the U.S. mint is planning a  new $1 coin series similar to the state quarters.

The $1 coins are being introduced as a result of the Presidential Coin Act of 2005, which requires the United States Mint to mint the dollar coins commemorating the service of former United States Presidents in the order in which they served.

Like the United States Mint's successful 50 State Quarters® Program on which it was modeled, the Presidential $1 Coin Program features a systematically rotating design. The first four $1 coins will commemorate George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.

The designs of the coins are bold and dramatic, with traditional inscriptions moved to the edge to allow for larger images of the Presidents.  These include "E Pluribus Unum" and "In God We Trust," the year of minting or issuance, and the mint mark, making these coins unique among today's U.S. circulating coins.

The new Presidential $1 Coins are identical in color and size to the Sacagawea Golden Dollar Coins, and have the same distinctive rim and tactile features to assist the visually impaired.

I saw this other great images on the 'Mute Photoblog'.

I went out at 4:30am last night hoping to see some of the Leonid meteor showers over England. I saw a few gorgeous shooting stars but no 'shower' and didn't manage to capture anything on camera. Still, it was nice to be out that late, everything was beautifully quiet and I took some night shots, like this one, while I was out.

This is an impressive satellite image of 'Niagara Falls'.

If you have read many of my posts you know I love comics. One of my recent favorites is 'Pickles'.

I have liked this strip ever since I first saw it. But after a while I wondered why I relate to it as well as I do. I'm not old. My mother is not divorced and remarried. I don't argue with my wife over cats because we both hate them.

One day I was watching a show on PBS and I realized that the Cartoonist is an LDS guy and the 'Pickles People' live in Provo. If you don't believe me check out the picture of the Provo Temple on the wall of the first cell in the above image.

I have always loved Legos. I have linked to many Lego related site from this blog. Today I was on this site called 'The brickshelf'. You should check out the great collection they have of popular bands in Lego.

I also came across this teaser poster for the new Harry Potter movie that I just had to post.

That's all for today!
