White moose, boldly sold, hole trouble, and photos
The week from Hell continues. I did't think there was any water in hell to surf on...
This article caught my eye concerning an 'albino moose' and the controversy over killing it or not.
'It is surely entertaining to have an albino moose wandering in the woods but in purely breeding terms it is not right to let it live', Morten Brommdal, manager of the animal section at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience at the University of Oslo told Moss Avis.
'That so many people want the white moose to live is an emotional issue. It is exciting to have such a rarity rustling around. But if it is spared we risk the moose's breeding qualities spreading. Soon we might two, three, four or five albino moose in these wooded areas, something which in the long run can weaken the herd,' said Brommdal, who pointed out that an albino moose is really a kind of 'mistake'.
Hmmmmm!

Can you believe that the 'Starship Enterprise model boldly sold for $576,000'?
This model of the Starship Enterprise used in the pilot and title sequences of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" sold for $576,000 Saturday at an auction of costumes, sets and props from 40 years of the "Star Trek" sci-fi franchise.
The 78-inch-long miniature of the "Enterprise-D," built by Industrial Light and Magic, debuted in 1987 in the episode "Encounter at Farpoint," and then was used in many subsequent episodes, as well as the film "Star Trek Generations."
[I want one!]

Sometimes while I am surfing I see something that interests me but that I think may not interest anyone else. so I do not put it on this blog. Later I find myself talking about it to someone and I realize I should have posted it at least to know where I can find it again. This next story fits into this category. Luckily I came across it again.
'Pensioner ends up in a hole lot of trouble'
[This is the real picture. A postman came by and could only see his shoes sticking out of the grass.]
In this instance a Pensioner is a person who has retired, and now collects a pension. This is a term typically used in the United Kingdom; someone of pensionable age may also be referred to as an 'old age pensioner', or OAP.
[WOW!!!]

Today I found this great repository of photos on the web entitled 'Outdoor Photos'.
I'm not sure but it appears these photos are all from Russia or the former Soviet Union.
There are many people who have contributed photos to this site but I really like these and others that were provided by 'Paramon'. I'm not sure who it is but there is a Russian website by the same name.

I also found this article that I found interesting, 'Youths No Longer Predominant at MySpace'.
Just a year ago, teens under 18 made up about 25 percent of MySpace, the popular online hangout run by News Corp. (NWSA) That's now down to 12 percent in the comScore analysis released Thursday.
By contrast, the 35-54 group at MySpace grew to 41 percent in August, from 32 percent a year earlier.
"This analysis confirms that the appeal of social-networking sites is far broader," said Jack Flanagan, executive vice president for comScore, adding that the data suggest that social networking is becoming mainstream.

I thought I had turned a corner in my picks but last weekend was not a good one for me again.
However, as bad as they were for me they seemed bad for everyone else too. The standings remain the same as last week. I hope this weeks picks are better for me. At least I know the Cougars can't lose!!!
Here are the games for Week 7:
Utah @ Wyoming
Utah State @ San Jose State
Colorado State @ Air Force
#22 Virginia Tech @ Boston College
#19 Missouri @ Texas A&M
UCLA @ #18 Oregon
#4 Michigan @ Penn State
#2 Florida @#11 Auburn
Here are my picks
